Google's Gemini 4 Carbon goes to security experts first

Google announced Gemini 4 Carbon on 28 October, a model built for hard coding and cybersecurity work. It starts with a small group of security experts while Google keeps testing its safeguards.

In short: You can't use it yet. Google has not said when everyone else will get it.

Google describes Carbon as a top-level model for coding and cybersecurity, built for long and complicated engineering jobs. It is reported to be strong at finding and patching software flaws.

A tool that is good at finding flaws could help attackers as well as defenders. So the first users are a group of cyber defenders in Google's Fairwind Program, and Google says it is still testing its safeguards.

Google has not given a date for wider release, so most people will keep using the Gemini models already on offer.
