Claude Sonnet 5.5 is out: same price, and about 30% faster
Sonnet 5.5, the middle model in Claude's range, arrived six days after Opus 5.5. The price stays the same as Sonnet 5, while Anthropic says it runs over 30% faster and costs up to 30% less per task.
In short: Same price as before, but quicker. Most everyday Claude use runs on this model.
Anthropic released Claude Sonnet 5.5 on 28 September. Sonnet is the middle model in Claude's range: the one most people use day to day.
The price did not change: $2 per million tokens in and $10 out, the same as Sonnet 5. Anthropic says it runs more than 30% faster and, in its own tests, costs up to 30% less per finished task.
It can read very long inputs, up to about a million tokens, which is roughly a few long books.
